
Anna Gams
Anna is a second year Ph.D. student in Dr. Igor Efimov’s lab studying biomedical engineering. Anna’s primary focus is on the hormonal effects of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone on human hearts. Anna also researches technology to enable the direct reprogramming of primary human fibroblasts into cardiomyocytes. In addition, Anna is involved in numerous other collaborative projects with different research groups. She is involved in the development and validation of a cardiac drug testing platform with InvivoSciences. She also collaborates with Dr. Tzatsos’ Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory at the GW Cancer Center to look more closely at how cancer progression modulates cardiac function.
